This year will probably go down as the strangest year ever. Most would agree that it was not easy to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic and its consequences. For some people, the impact hit harder, and for some people less. Some of us lost our jobs, family members, and some people cannot see their loved ones. And there are some on the other side of the world, who even lost their homes and do not have access to food.
I am speaking about the COVID-19 pandemic and the consequences that are arising - especially in African countries. Due to this, SOS-Kinderdörfer initiated the project Corona: Hilfe in der Krise.
Public life is currently slowing down. Unfortunately, this also means, that the im-and export in Africa has succumbed and supply bottlenecks are limiting the countries' resources. Many African countries are largely dependent on imports. However, there are no support packages and safety nets that could stop the loss of income. Consequently, the prices are increasing, food becomes scarce, and many people will suffer from hunger since they cannot afford it.
At first, it will affect the poor ones relentlessly and then the middle class. Thousands of people will be dependent on humanitarian aid.
Poverty will spread and many will succumb to starvation. In the long term, more people in Africa could die from the indirect consequences of the pandemic rather than from the coronavirus itself.
If we act now, we can help those people! This project aims to help secure the basic needs in African countries in the short-and long run. The first step is to make sure that everyone has access to food and a safe shelter. The second step is to further help families by providing them training and education to build and grow local small businesses.
This should give African families financial security, so that they can overcome and survive the crisis.
It is an important cause for me to financially support those who are in need. And for that, I will need your help as well.
If you wish to help you can either donate directly to SOS Kinderdörfer or you can request a painting on my Instagram page over a direct message and 50% will go to the project. The 50% donation receipt will be forwarded to you. Be aware, that you might receive the painting 3-4 weeks after your request, depending on where it needs to be shipped.
With your support, we can help African families have access to basic needs. Food and a safe shelter must be guaranteed for everyone on earth.
Thank you for your time and I wish you a great Christmas holiday!
