How do I create my online fundraising campaign for a charity stream?

You can create a fundraising campaign for streaming with just a few clicks: 

  1. Create the title and description for your fundraiser. Upload your own image if desired.  

  2. Select ‘Streaming’ as the cause to get the required widgets and functions. 

  3. Select the desired project. You can find information about our projects in our project overview.  

  4. Your account will be created automatically after you have entered your personal details. 

  5. The fundraising campaign is now ready to be published, but can also be saved as a draft for the time being. . 

  6. You will receive the widgets afterwards and can integrate them via the respective platform (Streamlabs or StreamElement OBS).

What do I need to consider when setting up my fundraising campaign?

When creating the fundraising campaign, select the ‘Streaming’ event so that you receive all the widgets and functions for the charity stream from us. The fundraising campaign finances projects of SOS Children's Villages worldwide and therefore does not refer to private donations. The fundraising campaign can be edited and deactivated at any time. Only the project selection cannot be changed afterwards.

What tools and materials will I receive for my charity stream?

For your donation stream, you will receive a fundraising page and widgets with an integrated donation ticker and a donation overview. We will also send you GIFs of the SOS Children's Villages that you can use during your charity stream. 

We will also send you information about the SOS Children's Villages to download and print out. 

As soon as the fundraising campaign is complete, you can download a personalised certificate of your fundraising campaign in the administration area. This contains information about the donations collected, which project the donations go to and who created the fundraising campaign.


Who receives a donation receipt?

All persons who have made a donation via meine-spendenaktion.de automatically receive a donation receipt at the end of the year. Creating a fundraising campaign alone does not result in the receipt of a donation receipt.

What payment options are available?

You have the following payment options: Paypal, credit card (Visa/Mastercard/Amex) and SEPA direct debit.

The entire donation process is handled via an encrypted SSL connection. Our website is certified by Comodo CA Limited. The 3D Secure procedure (MasterCard Secure Code or Verified by VISA) offers additional protection for donations made by credit card.

This means that your donation via the online form is as secure as online banking. SOS Children's Villages also bears the DZI seal of approval for donations and is a member of the Transparent Civil Society Initiative.


For which projects can I collect donations?

Will my fundraising campaign be published immediately after it has been created?

You can publish your fundraising campaign immediately after creating it or save it as a draft for the time being. Your campaign can still be edited after publication. Only the project selection cannot be edited once the fundraiser has been created.

Can people donate anonymously and hide the amount?

Yes, people who wish to make a donation can choose to donate anonymously or by stating their name. There is also the option of displaying or hiding the amount to be donated.

Can I collect donations via a private donation link (Paypal etc.)?

Collecting donations privately is legally tricky. As soon as you collect donations via a donation link on meine-spendenaktion.de, you are legally on the safe side and never come into contact with the money - instead, the money goes directly to the projects.

Can I offer a raffle/competition in the charity stream?

Aufgrund des Gemeinnützigkeitsrechts ist es nur möglich, eine Spende auch als Spende zu handhaben, wenn keine Gegenleistung vorausgesetzt wird. Gewinnspiele oder Verlosungen setzen aber eine Teilnahme voraus und beinhalten daher eine Gegenleistung. Daher achte bitte unbedingt darauf, dass du in deinem Charity-Stream keine Verlosung anbietest.

Due to charitable law, it is only possible to treat a donation as a donation if no consideration is required. However, competitions or prize draws require participation and therefore involve something in return. Therefore, please make sure that you do not offer a raffle in your charity stream.
