How do I create my online fundraising campaign?

You can easily create your own fundraising campaign in just a few steps:

  • The first step is to create a customised title and a descriptive text for your fundraising campaign. If you wish, you can upload your own image or use one of our image suggestions. This can also be changed at any time afterwards.
  • Then select the reason for the donation (e.g. birthday) and the project you would like to support. The project cannot be changed later. You can find information on our projects in our project overview.
  • An account is created automatically after you have entered your personal details. 
  • Your fundraising campaign is now ready to be published, but can also be saved as a draft for the time being..

What do I need to consider when setting up my fundraising campaign?

The fundraising campaign finances projects of SOS Children's Villages worldwide and therefore does not relate to private donations. You can edit and deactivate your fundraising campaign at any time. Only the project selection cannot be changed afterwards.

Who will receive a donation receipt?

All persons who have made a donation via meine-spendenaktion.de automatically receive a donation receipt at the end of the year. The creation of a fundraising campaign alone does not lead to the receipt of a donation receipt.

Will I receive materials for my fundraising campaign?

Yes, you will receive information from us about the SOS Children's Villages to download and print out. You will also receive an information sheet from us with personalised information about your fundraising campaign for download. This information sheet contains a QR code thats leads with a direct link to your fundraising campaign page. You can use the info sheet to display it at offline events.

As soon as the fundraising campaign is completed, you can download a personalised certificate of your fundraising campaign in the administration area. This contains information about the donations received, which project the donations are going to and who created the fundraising campaign.

Which payment options are available?

You have the following payment options: Paypal, credit card (Visa/Mastercard/Amex) and SEPA direct debit.

The entire donation process is handled via an encrypted SSL connection. Our website is certified by Comodo CA Limited. The 3D Secure procedure (MasterCard Secure Code or Verified by VISA) offers additional protection for donations made by credit card.

This means that your donation via the online form is as secure as online banking. SOS-Kinderdörfer weltweit also bears the DZI seal of approval for donations and is a member of the Transparent Civil Society Initiative.

For which projects can I collect donations?

You can find an overview of the current SOS Children's Villages donation projects here in our project overview.

Will my fundraising campaign be published immediately after it has been created?

You can publish your fundraising campaign directly after creating it or save it as a draft. Your campaign can still be edited after publication. Only the project selection cannot be edited once the fundraiser has been created.

Can people donate anonymously and hide the amount?

Yes, people who wish to make a donation can choose to donate anonymously or by stating their name. There is also the option of displaying or hiding the amount to be donated.

How can I create a charity stream as a company?

You can create a fundraising campaign for a charity stream by selecting ‘Streaming’ in the event selection in the online form. After publishing the fundraising campaign, you will receive the associated widgets and functions that allow you to integrate a live donation ticker in Streamlabs or StreamElements OBS. This gives you the opportunity to set up a charity stream via Twitch, YouTube and co. We are happy to support you.
